Today is National Good Samaritan Day! Celebrated on the anniversary of the murder of Kitty Genovese in New York where a bunch of neighbors and bystanders supposedly watched and did nothing as she was killed in a courtyard. This story isn’t true though. It’s been debunked as a sensationalized false news story in the New York Times. Two neighbors actually did call the police, but the police didn’t think it was worth showing up for, so Kitty died in the arms of her friend and neighbor.
